TRP record-breaking news

 

 

I could not have agreed more with Mr Ashutosh, the Managing editor of IBN7, on what he has written about the so-called breaking news that covers the major portion of the prime time. In a bid to score high on TRPs and TAMs, the media's role as the information provider, as a voice of the people and the fourth pillar of democracy is being tarnished. These news channels turn the reports on incidents, which are not much of news, to cover a big time slot into breaking news and overtime shocking news. The result is that the time for actual healthy information is eaten up by these overemphasised incidents. Some of the visual reconstructions of the actual scenes are capable of shattering the faith, trust and hopes of people.

Infact, some of the channels today are glorifying criminals, superstitions and anti-social activities. If the educated act such irresponsibly why blame any other?
