The future leaders

Indian political parties have always been dominated by the older generation, who had already spent major part of their lives and experienced major phases in their lives. "Youth is the future of India" is a famous one-liner given by our elderly, and they've grown from young to old. Sometimes, there's a thought that when all working people in India have an age to retire, then why politicians should not be replaced by some energetic, fresh and educated youth. The youth can create a culture of commitment to democracy and democratic values such as equality, justice, freedom and secularism, which can help India to free itself from age-old beliefs and move forward. To translate expectations into reality, a large number of committed youth are needed at this hour when India is aiming to become a world power. Politics require more attention from the educated youth who are harbingers of the new era of democratic values and torchbearers of a developed nation.

Ranchi Make a change!

A single vote will change it for all… Sounds nice. Arindam was dot right to state that such campaigns by several organisations make sense only if we vote for a right candidate. His way of motivating either ourselves to join politics, or someone who can make a difference is welcomed by me. It is a fact that we never really realise how much worth a vote is and that's why we see a bunch of criminals in our political system. We all are aware of it but not ready to come out of our comfort zone and take the responsibility on our shoulders. How many times have we taken stern action again this? Most of us, including me, are happy as far as our requirements are satisfied. And, that’s probably the worst evil that any country faces. Only 40 per cent of Indians vote and most of them are the ones for whom it's like a family business that goes on in the polling booths.

Delhi Faith in god

The cover story "Helpline God" (TSI, March 23-29) was a good read in these bad times and covered the latest trend. What an irony! Recession has made numerous people jobless, which mostly include youth, who are now not only job seekers but also have wisdom and good fortune seekers from the Almighty. Many of these young bloods made fun of people who had faith in God. This phenomenon is not only being observed with Hindus but Muslims and Christians too, who have joined the bandwagon just in the hope that superpower keeps them safe and bad luck named recession out of their way. It has been a common practice with Indians to seek astrologer's, face readers' advice before going for some good work and when bad fortune strikes us, we follow their instructions blindfolded. The global meltdown has affected lives of people who are on road even after having great educational degrees. Incredibly more devotees are visiting temples and giving donations. Very truly said are the words: Losses of some… brings good fortune to some.
