Passion to enlighten

My heartiest congratulations to The Sunday Indian on completing its five years of journey with a tremendous success. In his editorial, ‘Five successful years of being Passionate About India!" (TSI, October 16), Arindam Chaudhuri has rightly applauded that behind this success are combined efforts of his able and magnificent team who cater to the needs of all the readers by publishing it in 14 Indian regional languages. The magazine deserves full marks from its readers too for its bold, unbiased and impartial editorials with apt analyses, the relevant cover stories and other interesting articles on the current national and international topics. While concluding, Mr Arindam Chaudhuri rightly mentions that the journey taken so far by The Sunday Indian is about its uncompromising ideologies, its people, and a dedication towards the cause of masses. I wish him and his team always remains the torch bearers and Passionate About India.

Gender discrimination

Prasoon S Majumdar’s article `Is Death Better than this’ (TSI, October 16) has hit the right chord. In India, it is not only in issues pertaining to the health aspect that the women are discriminated against; right from their birth till their death women face this wrath. If at all it is known that the child to be born is a girl, in most of the places, female foeticide is practiced. Not only that, even after birth, boys are given preferential treatment by parents. The  discrimination continues even after marriage. This discrimination has resulted in the girl child being sent to a low standard school, bought cheaper and fewer clothes, taken to government or ordinary doctors in case of illness. So all along women continue to make sacrifices and suffer in silence. To avoid it, all that is requires is an attitudinal change and no amount of enforcement of law or statutes. Let’s make it happen.

Hats off to Arindam Chaudhuri’s editorial "Five successful years of being Passionate About India!” (TSI, October 16). It is obviously the efforts of Mr. Chaudhuri and his dedicated team to achieve a remarkable readership of 6 lakh within a span of five years. TSI is the only magazine that covers all aspects of our daily life and presents the best stuff for a healthy reader. In an era of stiff competition from the already established magazines, TSI has achieved a remarkable excellence. There is a definite  diversity and  innovation in its content due to which the magazine has become acceptable to the readers of all age groups. Given the nature of its content, TSI is must-read magazine for every household in India. I, as a consistent reader of The Sunday Indian, wish it best of the times ahead in all its endeavours.
