Peoples have passion for creativeness. Many see it as personal hobbies like collecting stamps, coins, photographs, autographs, rare books, articles, etc. Some people go for wild adventures. Unthinkable gimmicks and hair-raising acrobatics. These hobbies or habits are linked with the likings of a person, who derive a satisfaction out of them. And there are many habits also that reflect the ethical value of social norm and stature. Be it charity, going for doing something beneficial for the society or any other such case. In these cases, personal satisfaction is inter-linked.
Damodar Nanda of Jaipur in Orissa has unique distinction of fulfilling his cherished desire which most-probably no one has ever thought-of. He starts propagating peace world wide. He tries to keep amicable, friendly harmony relationship amongst people not only who are nearby but people of far-off places. And his novel medium is post-cards.
Nanda realizes that letter writing has become obsolete and its charm is fading fast. Considering the apathy in postal service, he decided to go for a new venture of populating the value of post and thus he started writing in post-cards.
His relentless effort in communicating his views to known & unknown persons through post cards is definitely praise-worthy. He has already written 5000 letters through post-cards and he says that there is a positive impact of his post-cards as he has already received about 1524 replies.
He goes on writing to Secretaries of various departments of government high-lighting the merits and demerits of function and he is confident that one day his attempts will yield good governance. He recalls once he wrote to one eminent writer of Oriya language pointing out some error in his script and promptly the received reply with thanks. He has received replies from many dignitaries and most prominent personality is J.B. Pattnaik, former Chief Minister of Orissa and present governor of Assam.
But surprisingly, he is in no way connected with postal service. He is M.A. in Sanskrit and has obtained diploma in National Sanskrit Institute. He is confident of his mission and dreams that one-day post cards will be popular as it was.
