It refers to "Mosquitoes win over Maoists" (TSI, April 26-May 2). The massacre of CRPF men by Maoists in Dantewada speaks of the poor planning and execution of a large scale operation against the Maoists. It is difficult to comprehend that why no surveillance was kept on the route by which the troupe was supposed to return. The fact that number of policemen and jawans are succumbing to diseases like malaria is outnumbering those dying fighting the insurgents; it must be taken seriously. It reflects that the top brass of the security agencies like CRPF and BSF are not connected to the ground realities and their participation seems to be limited to passing orders only. This lackadaisical approach will result in loss of hundreds of hapless lives across the country. There is an urgent need to bring professionalism in the functioning of internal security agencies too.
