This is with reference to Stairway to the abattoir – an article on madrasas, which was an eye-opener. If nothing is wrong with the functioning of madrasas, why do they have to hide behind layers of veils? Why can’t they follow a transparent approach of functioning? Every religion propagates fraternity and truth. None preaches the wrong path. I don’t see any wrong with madrasas starting job-oriented education. The popular rhetoric of maulanas that government control will badly affect the soul of madrasas, indicates that they don’t want to change. Children can be given both religious and technical education simultaneously. If madrasas want to maintain credibility, they should be more transparent. Then nobody would dare raise a finger.
