Sweating not just releases all the toxins from the body but also has various other advantages. And unfortunately, it benefits only the hippopotamus! A hippopotamus’ sweat, say scientists, serves as sunscreen which blocks the sun’s harmful rays and also fights disease causing microbes.
In fact, scientists say that hippos don’t really sweat. They excrete an oily liquid from the skin’s pores which enables the animal to keep itself cool. Besides, a hippo’s sweat keeps two types of disease-causing bacteria from growing. This secretion also explains the quick recovery of hippos from wounds and other diseases.
