Spread youth power

 

 

With reference to Arindam's editorial (TSI Dec 22-28), the reluctance on the part of our politicians to consider educated youth in governance and to initiate a public debate on the possibilities of the presidential system, is mysterious. Our political system is still caught up in the vicious circle of politicisation of religion, criminalisation of politics and nationalisation of crimes. The vibrant youth power in politics, coupled with a responsible judiciary can reinstate 'true democracy'. Recently, I heard that a suggestion had come up in the Kerala state Congress party meeting, not to consider MPs who have competed or represented their constituencies thrice in the upcoming elections, in order to induct young talent. Let's hope such things soon turn into reality. Your thought provoking editorial makes me label TSI community as a 'pressure group' in the Indian polity.
