Small sugar prices firm up

Small sugar prices firmed up further at the Vashi wholesale market here on Tuesday on sustained buying from stockists and bulk consumers ahead of festivities amid limited arrivals from the mills.
    
On the other hand, medium sugar variety ended mixed owing to alternate bouts of buying and selling.
    
Small sugar (S-30) spurted by Rs 10/16 per quintal to Rs 2,786/2,861 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,776/2,845.
    
Medium Sugar (M-30) were quoted at Rs 2,851/3,026 per quintal as compared to Rs 2,861/3,001 on Monday.
    
The following are Tuesday's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets:
    
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,786/2,861 (Rs 2,776/ 2,845).
    
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,851/3,026 (Rs 2,861/ 3,001).
