Six killed in firing at Pakistan political rally

At least six people were killed and 10 injured when two rival groups fired at each other during a political gathering in Pakistan on Sunday night.

The incident took place in Khairpur district of Sindh province, the local media have reported. Police and witnesses have told Geo TV that the firing took place at around 8:20 PM after a fierce argument between two rival groups at a political gathering. The gathering was organised by the ruling Pakistan People's Party.

Nafeesa Shah, member of the National Assembly or lower house of parliament, who was addressing the gathering said the firing was an outcome of an old enmity between the two groups.

A journalist working with the government-run PTV was also killed in the incident. Hospital sources have said that some of the wounded are in a critical condition and the toll may rise.
