Shades of love

It was Valentine’s Day last week and I did the most catastrophic mistake of going to the mall. Either I was wearing rose colored glasses or everything was so…Mushy and blinding! So many hearts, roses, puppies with ribbons, candies, heart shaped chocolates and balloons kind of got a bit too much for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love, but not always.. Maybe it’s a lot to do with my state of mind. To a teenager, a mall in America is like the Mecca of love. But my dealings with love have been a little bit ‘different‘. Love is more than munching on heart shaped chocolates and crooning to Justin Beiber or Taylor Swift.

Here is how I see love. Every time I think of love, besides getting a red shaped heart with horns in front of my eyes, I also relive the horror that everyone in and around love has, sometime or the other. Remembering a girl friend telling you through her angry sobs that she will never fall in love again, still gives me the chills. I have witnessed it a zillion times-ironically on both sides. I know love can be universally appealing but let me warn you this four letter word is not all candy and sweet, it can be a bitch when not in the mood. Just like all of you , I've had my fair share of ooh, aah and ouches moments...and the truth is, they never cease to stop. Each time there is a heart breaking event in my life (that being an exaggerated tantrum for not getting what I want!), I doubt everything-love included.

The bitter truth is that seeing the worse in people, heartbreaks and situations is the obvious thing to do. But next time if you stumble upon these, and you surely will, do stop and acknowledge what you are gaining out of it...however miniscule it seems to be at that point. You know, I hardly remember the good stuff in life that shaped me to become who I am today. Surprisingly, it's the heartaches that became rock solid milestones in a journey called 'ME'.

Every time my heart breaks, I go in a sabbatical, sulk for a while and then even against my will, get put in the recovery mode! What I am trying to say is that wounds are meant to heal. As long as you don’t put a timeline on it. So please don’t be afraid of engaging again...as that's food for our soul! I say," If ain't bumpy, its not a joyride".The sweet gist of all this blibber blabber is that when the good things in life are ushered in, some bad bad things will also tag along. And the honorable thing to do is, instead of making a big hue and cry about them, let them in and fight them out with an annoyingly positive attitude! It's a lie when they tell you that it's alright if life isn't fair but it's also the truth that life isn't fair to anyone of us, so at least it's fair in being unfair!
