In a move that is bound to burn some hearts in Tel Aviv, John Kerry has called Israeli settlements in West Bank and East Jerusalem as “illegitimate”. Kerry made the statement while talking to the media following his meeting with ex-PA chief Mahmoud Abbas. “Let me emphasize that the position of the US is that we consider now, and have always considered, the settlements to be illegitimate,” he was reported as saying. “I want to make it extremely clear that at no time did the Palestinians in any way agree, as a matter of going back to the talks, that they could somehow condone or accept the settlements,” he further added.
