Good news for patients suffering from muscular dystrophy. Researchers say that it may one day be possible to use cell transplants to treat muscular dystrophy. A stem cell transplant that fixes defective muscles in mice could be the agent for this breakthrough. Diabetes is an incresingly common lifestyle disease afflicting millions of people worldwide. Now, researchers say that people with excess amounts of the protein fetuin-A are more likely than others to develop type 2 diabetes (also known as late onset diabetes). Research shows that high levels of fetuin-A in the blood increases the risk of diabetes by 70 per cent.
