The ‘season’ed traveller goes now
If you’re not exactly ‘demophobic’ and
don’t mind being in the Sun, July-August
is perfect. Months November to
January are calm and quiet; just ideal
for a family vacation!
Savour faire
Seafood rules the roasted roost. Bake it,
broil it, with rice or simply in a stew.
Sofi t pages, is a stew preparation from
three kinds of meat, cooked with cloves,
cinnamon, garlic and peppers. Flao, a
mint-fl avoured variation of cheesecake,
is easily the most famous dessert of
the island.
Get to work
Shop till you drop; at the famous weekly
‘Hippy Market’ at San Carlos. Take
the two-hour scenic train from San Antoni,
near the ‘Big Egg’. Rent a bike and
go mountain biking. Hire a car; it’s
the best way to discover the island.
Soak yourself in water. Go waterskiing,
jet skiing, sailing, windsurfi ng and
parasailing; and go bananas over the
banana boat!
What’s the word?
Th e primary language of Ibiza is Catalan,
a form of Spanish; Que parla
l’anglès? (Do you speak English?) will
come in handy in everyday parlance!
Gràcies! (thank you) and
Adiéu! (goodbye) until
next time...
Keepsake courtesies
Do take home a bottle of
traditional Hierbas Ibicencas,
Ibiza’s number one
local liqueur.
