The ‘season’ed traveller goes now
The summer time (April, May) is far from fine… November through March is cool and mild and perfect
‘Savour’ faire
There’s no food like Thai food. A delicious blend of flavours and ingredients will leave you panting for more… Warm up with Mekong (whiskey) and move on to kai ho bai toei (seasoned fried chicken in leaf wrappers) or thotman plakrai or thotman kung (fish or shrimp balls), Thai style of course! Peak it with a variety of, er... thongs to choose from – thong yib, thong yod and foi thong... hey, it’s only desserts we’re talking about!
Get to work
Breathtaking green scenery, Chiang Mai is the best place for an elephant trek to take you through some amazing wildlife. Scuba diving in the beautiful Thai seas is also one of the cheapest. Get up, close and personal with the tigers at the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi province which is the refuge of many a tamed tiger. Nuad Phaen Boran, a traditional Thai massage is highly recommended!
What’s the word?
Thai is what the Thai speak. And, polite is how they prefer it; so tail it off with a kráp (man) and kâ (woman). Sa-wat dee – welcomes and goodbyes sound good!
Keepsake courtesies
Thailand is a shopper’s haven; Armani and Cavalli abound but be sure of what you shell out, for it’s hard to tell genuine from fake. Thai silk is exquisite.
