Jammu and Kashmir DGP Kuldeep Khoda on Wednesday said the state police was sharpening training skills of its personnel to meet requirements of present-day challenges.

Training in latest techniques like computer education, crime detection and use of non-lethal weapons had been assuming importance in the current scenario, he said.

The police had upgraded its training institutions across the state to get its men trained in the field of modern policing, Khoda said.

Stressing the need for maintaining peace in the state, the DGP asked the force personnel to respect human rights. "Cops while dealing with any situation have to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in letter and spirit and respect human rights," he said.

The DGP was addressing newly-recruited constables at Sardar Pritinandan Singh Police Training School here.
