Director Rajkumar Santoshi has signed actor Shahid Kapoor for a Bollywood masala entertainer film tentatively titled 'Phata Postar Nikla Hero'.
Santoshi, who has given hits like 'Ghayal', 'Andaz Apna Apna', 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', will feature Shahid in the lead. The film will be produced by Ramesh Taurani's Tips Films.
"We have finalised Shahid Kapoor as the hero for the film to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. We felt he fits the bill for this role. It was for about six months when we were discussing this project with him. The film is tentatively
titled 'Phata Poster Nikla Hero'," Taurani said.
Shahid has two other projects in hand - Maneesh Sharma's (of 'Band Bajaa Baraat fame) next with Yash Raj Films and other with Prabhu Deva.
This film is about a young boy who wants to be a superstar despite his mother's protestations.
"This film is a full fledged masala entertainer with elements of romance and action. It is an original story and not a remake," Taurani said.
The leading lady for this film is yet to be finalised and the makers are in talks with few but are not willing to divulge any details about the same.
"All I can is we will go with a fresh pairing. I think in about a week or so we should be able to finalise things," he said.
The film will go on floors from November and will release next year.
