Rahul GandhiAICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi  broke the security cordon to have tea at a roadside tea stall while he was returning to Imphal airport after addressing a gathering in the city on Monday.

Rahul had not had food in the afternoon but made an unexpected stopover at a roadside tea stall at Sangaiprou to sip tea and taste locally made delicacies.

Gandhi scion was in Imphal, Manipur to meet newly elected members of local bodies.

The sudden stopover surprised local people and stall owners, said an eyewitness.

Without hesitation Rahul Gandhi came down from his vehicle and came straight inside a tea shop and drank a cup of tea.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and AICC Manipur in-charge Luizinho Falero accompanied Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi sat at a table which was placed outside the hotel in the open and had tea along with O Ibobi Singh, Luizinho Falero.

Rahul and his associates incurred Rs 70 bill for tea and snacks though the owner refused to charge anything from him. However, Rahul paid Rs 200 through his associate.

Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi did not allow any of his security guards to enter the hotel so as not to create any inconvenience to the hotel and its customers.
