Nine day long Navaratri festival has begun and in India pujas are being performed to Goddess Durga. Similar is the situation in Nasik as well where a grand puja at the famous hill temple of Goddess Saptshrungi took place.
A large number of devotees thronged the Saptshrungi Devigarh at Nanduri, about 72 kms from here, for offering prayers to the Goddess. Rural police have made elaborate security arrangements around the venue while the temple trust has put up 48 CCTVs to monitor the heavy rush of devotees during the festival.
Nashik division of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has arranged special buses up to Nanduri to carry the pilgrims from all over Maharashtra.Similar events are also being organised at other Goddess Durga temples in the city.
Also, cultural and religious programmes have been arranged at the ancient Shri Vyankatesh Balaji temple in city's Kapad Bazar locality from today to mark the 'Bramhostav'. The festival will begin with a chariot procession of the deity this evening.
