With reference to Arindam Chaudhuri's edit, “Our MPs have... imperatives!” (TSI, Aug 30-Sep 5). The consensus formed for personal gains, keeping aside all ideological differences is no surprise considering the backgrounds of some of our MPs. The insensitivity and negligence with which these MPs have acted on people's issues has to be condemned. Electoral reforms is the key to ensure qualitative administration and democratic commitment. It is the vulnerability of the defenceless electorate that is being exploited, it needs to be changed. A renaissance of moral conscience is needed. Else, the Parliament will be the fitting example to the Napoleonic words, "In politics stupidity is not a handicap".
