Palm Springs win for Lakshmi

Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Lakshmi’, a film on human trafficking telling the story of a 13-year-old girl's courageous battle, received the Audience Award for the best narrative feature at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The 109 minute film was one among five Indian entries which included Lootera, The Good Road, Siddharth, and Faith Connections. The film’s impending Indian release is presaged by the festival website describes it as “(b)ound to be controversial”.
