Overhaul teaching method

 

 

Arindam Chaudhuri's article "The Ten things Kapil Sibal must do..." is very stimulating and hits the nail on the head with the recommendation of revamping the primary education system of our country. The education level in our government schools, be it primary, secondary or senior secondary level is not up to the mark. This can easily be gauged from the fact that majority of teachers who teach in such schools send their children to private schools. Appointments at all levels in government schools are marred by political interventions. Accountability is minimum as they are assured of a fixed monthly salary. In the absence of quality teaching, students rely on 'guides', kunjis and booklets like '10 year solved papers' to clear their exams. The teaching method also needs to be overhauled to take care of this problem.
