OTHERS IN THE F IELD

Your feature story on India’s neglected sports was really nice. It is high time we pay attention to these uncelebrated sports, given the fact that they are the only ones who have performed for India. Take the case of our shooting “stars”, if we are allowed to call them so, they may not have performed extraordinary but they have been consistent and kept on going better. People like Raghvendra Rathore have brought limelight to the sport and laurels to the nation. All this, when there is no proper recognition to the game and he could only avail facilities as he is an Armyman. On the contrary, look at out great cricketers, who are worshipped like gods. They are given all the facilities, the best to match international levels, and they still fail to perform. It is quite disappointing. If only we gave one percent of this attention other games!
