When it comes to give jobs to the families of terrorist victims, Punjab government seems to acts swiftly but only in cases involving the kin of influential persons and even goes to the extent of flouting norms while benefiting them.
Recently a nephew of the minister for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry, Gulzar Singh Ranike, has been offered a job of Naib Tehsildar on compassionate ground as his father and brother of were killed by terrorists.
Punjab cabinet had taken a decision in this regard in November. Usually the state government offer class-3 and class -4 jobs to the kin of terrorist victim families, but in case of influential person’s kin, the government offers them class-1 jobs.
A few months back, SAD-BJP coalition government had offered a job of Sub Inspector in police to Rajinder Singh, a relative of the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats. Singh‘s father was killed by terrorists during militancy.
A senior official, on condition of anonymity told that while giving the job to Ranike‘s nephew, the government did not follow the norms properly. He revealed that the norms were being floated while making such appointments on compassionate ground in the past too.
