Oldies are hot in chimps

 

 

It’s official now. Chimpanzees are sticklers for experience when chosing their er... soulmate. This contrast with human behaviour (which otherwise is quite similiar) is perhaps because the mating system in chimps is a relatively debauched one, while human relations, thanks to the tradition of wedlock, are typically very long term (if we ignore divorces of course!). Hence the younger females, with greater reproductive systems the obvious choice i humans. In chimps though, the oldies are hot and happening for sure!
