No World Cup hangover for Unmukt Chand

Unmukt Chand, the new heart throb from Delhi left for the New Zealand with the India A team on Friday to play three one-dayers and two four-day games and one T20 match series starting 18th September.

Before leaving for New Zealand, Unmukt Chand in a conversation with TSI, said “Now there is no hangover of the U-19 World Cup win. And I am not thinking about what I did in Australia,” said Unmukt.

“My new target is New Zealand series where I will get the opportunity to continue my good form. For a player, the performance in the past is not so important. One has to plan and perform in the coming matches,” he added.

Unmukt while playing six matches in U-19 world cup scored 246 runs at an average of 46.20 which includes the match-winning innings of 111 against the might Australian in the final. From Greg Chappell to Sourav Ganguly, many cricketing giants have hailed his performance and advocated for giving him better opportunities in future so that he could prepare for bigger opportunities.

Unmukt is an aggressive opener and considering the present bench strength, Unmukt will have to really work very hard to get a call for the senior team and till date he will have to keep on performing whenever and wherever he gets any chance.
