The latest editorial (TSI, Nov 2-8) was as clear as a diamond and with thoughts cut to perfection. Your unique editorial was impressive and had a lot of inner depth. The biggest problem we face is that of losing our sense of pride while bathing in the pride of others. We need to realise that we are individual diamonds and do not have to bask on the other side of the glory. Indians take pride whenever they win in cricket, gets nominated for an Oscar and even when an NRI scientist wins a Nobel Prize. As diamonds we need to form our own lives with our unique glow. Why do we take pride in someone else's efforts? We have to create our own dimensions instead of riding piggyback. We do not have any reason to steal someone else's pride. Each individual takes great efforts and is part of our social system. But finally he or she has to shine individually. India needs to avoid basking in false pride and hoisting the tricolour without thinking. Individual efforts are about personal glory. Recently, when an Indian in the US won the Nobel Prize, we all felt very proud. Let a diamond be an individual and fits itself into the crown.
