Monumental failure

 

 

'The Dangerous Divide' by Prasoon Majumdar reminded us of how our government, despite implementing numerous policies, has failed to enable India to attain 100 per cent literacy due to the current divide in our education system. We have our budget increased by 20 per cent this financial year, i.e. from Rs 28,674 crore to Rs 34,400 crore. Yet, even though the budget has increased considerably over the years – in addition to the reservation policy, which continues even after 60 years of independence – the government has nothing to show for it.
