It might sound strange that the sea appears
milky in the night because of the presence
of the bio-luminescent bacteria. They emit the
glow to serve their purpose of survival. Fish
are easily drawn to this kind of a luminescence
and it helps the bacteria to get up-close-andpersonal
with the fi sh so that they can chart
a way into the intestines of the fish.
The fi sh serve as home for the bacteria to
survive. Satellite images confi rmed these facts,
depriving many of their supposed notions of
the greatness of sailors guided in the sea by
a white light.
