Melting away

 

 

The earth’s poles are known to be icy cold but last year the amount of ice in the Arctic Ocean fell to a record low. Scientists say that for many years, the amount of ice left by the end of summer has been declining and that last summer was the worst they had seen – 23% below the previous record low, which was set just two years ago. If this trend continues, scientists fear that the Arctic will be stuck in a warming trend from which it may never recover.
