Mumabai Art Kollective (MARK), a new group of artists and art lovers in the city, have come together to bring into light those artists, who are involved in serious art work, with a deep sense of social awareness.
The group plans to take art to smaller cities away from metropolitan cities and also create opportunities for artists seeking exposure for contemporary art in formal as well as informal way.
As part of this initiative, MARK is presenting an exhibition of art work by Prakash Bal Joshi and Anjali Purohit, at the Bajaj Art Gallery here November 7 to 12.
The exhibition is called " Worlds within Worlds".
"We say ours is one world. However, within this, there exist so many worlds. Distinct, self sufficient and presumably isolated and unaffected by what goes on in the other worlds," Joshi, a senior journalist, said.
"There are worlds of compact eco-systems, of close-knit communities, of production units, of ordered social systems; worlds that form themselves into communities with their own language, expressions and meaning," he said.
The exhibition presents personal and varied interpretations of and reactions to this theme, Joshi said.
