Mamata inducts two new ministers

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inducted two new faces in her Cabinet on Monday. This is the first reshuffle in the cabinet after Mamata Banerjee took over her as Chief Minister of the state in May last year.
 
Two new ministers are Chandrima Bhattacharjee and Arup Biswas.

Arup Biswas has been given the charge of Youth Services replacing Ujjwal Biswas, while Chandrima Bhattachrjee, a TMC-MLA and a renowned advocate of Calcutta High court, has been appointed as the Minister of state for health. Health sector is one of the key sectors where Mamata Banerjee wants massive improvement and for that reason she has kept the portfolio with her.

Banerjee was strongly criticized by the opposition following several cases of of infant deaths and the recent death of a slum-dweller mother who was allegedly denied admission in two government-run hospitals in the city. She died soon after delivering twin on last Friday.

Madan Mitra will hold the Transport department along with his existing Sports portfolio.
