There is a rat race among political leaders to demand the Bharat Ratna for BJP leader and former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee. Union cabinet minister Farooq Abdullah and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar who were part of the NDA government has backed the demand for according the Bharat Ratna to Vajpayee, saying he is bigger than the award itself. “I am not a BJP man but I am an Indian and I think no one can forget that he is a fine leader,” Abdullah noted while Nitish Kumar said Vajpayee deserves it and asked `why should not it be given to him?”. Will UPA II honour Vajpayee who had once idolised Indira Gandhi as godess Durga after the Bangladesh liberation? In doing so, it could well score over its arch rival BJP which is contemplating the honour when it comes to power soon! Will Sonia Gandhi steal the thunder?
