Kshama creates electoral history

Kshama Sawant, born in Bangalore, educated in Mumbai, has created history in the USA by becoming the first ever Socialist candidate to win a seat in elected office – in the case the Seattle Council. Her support stems from the younger voters, the lower income group, and from immigrants who favour her stance on redistribution of wealth and raising of the minimum wage. This was the second run for office for this professor at the Seattle Central College.
