Kill Kasab !

Last time when I went to my hometown, I saw ten little cousins of mine, all of them armed with AK-47. Hold a second, let me clarify. No, kid cousins aren't militants (Not everyone in Manipur is a militant, at least, spare the kids please!). They were just playing shootout with their plastic guns.

The next day, again I saw them with guns (Yes, the plastic ones). This time, they were standing in a queue behind two others in front of a TV. They were playing the same game in PS3. Then I went upstairs and saw an introvert cousin, in front of his desktop, playing the ditto game online with the headphones on.

Why only shootout? Why not other games? I wondered. A realisation struck my mind then. Uncountable terror attacks in the last few years is the reason. Somewhere at the back of their innocent minds, they think that it is 'cool' to get a gun and shoot people violently.

Well, the similarity among the above incidents that I observed at home was they were playing the same game- “Kill Kasab”. In this game, one becomes the villain-Kasab, the Pakistani terrorist, and some of them NSG commandos and the rest 'uncool' common people. I was shocked to see these kids depicting the exact scenario that took place on that fateful day-26/11. It was again a shocker to me when I saw them fighting over to play Kasab!

Out of curiosity, I asked: Why not NSG Commando? Why Kasab?

Pat comes the reply, that too from the youngest cousin: “It's good to be bad. It's cool.” Well, another shocker.

How unfortunate it is that kids are inspired by some stupid terrorists and not the 'heroes'. It reflects how badly their minds are affected by terrorism. They are becoming violent as the days pass by. And I solely blame Indian System for this.

Three years on and Kasab still alive is a mockery at Indian democracy. Had Kasab be hanged just few days after the fateful day, it would have been a different scenario. Kids would have behaved in just the opposite way. They might have been fighting over to act like NSG Commandos or common man but Kasab. There would not have been a game called “Kill Kasab”. They would have been playing car race on their PS3 and not shootout games.

What would happened to these innocent children, who are increasingly growing violent, in the coming few years if Kasab is not hanged? I can only wonder.
