Kani walks out of Tihar jail after six months

DMK leader and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and five others accused in the 2G spectrum scam were on Tuesday evening released from Tihar jail, where they were lodged for over six months.

"They have been released," Sunil Gupta, Tihar jail spokesperson, said. However, Kanimozhi will not reach Chennai till December 3 as she has to attend a court hearing in New Delhi over the multi-crore scam, the party said on Tuesday.

DMK has planned to organise a big welcome for her when she reaches chennai. An elated DMK chief M Karunanidhi said yesterday that the party would organise a big welcome for her, when she arrives in Chennai.

Kanimozhi and four others were granted bail by Delhi High Court on Monday. Another accused Shahid Balwa, of Swan Telecom, was given bail by a CBI special court on Tuesday.
