Hurricanes Help!

 

 

Hurricanes may be one of the most dreaded disasters but researchers have found out that they can be a blessing in disguise as well! After the deadly hurricanes Katrina and Rita last year, observations of the sea-bed revealed that on that fateful day, these two had in fact helped preserve the coral reef that lay on their path! This took place because the hurricanes resulted in a cooling effect on the ocean, which in turn helped the corals recover from the bleaching process that they were then undergoing. Two sides of the same coin!
