Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Harish Rawat is facing a stiff challenge for Uttarakhand chief minister post. The biggest threat is from senior leader ND Tiwari who had shown his desire for this post once again. The other serious contenders are senior leaders, like Harak Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj.
The Union Minister, had made a serious complaint to Congress high command and Prime minister. At the side lines of a function he asked PM Manmohan Singh to intervene in the matter. In fact he had requested party high command for a free and fair election for the leader of the house.
Rawat, who met PM Manmohan singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and General secretary Rahul Gandhi, asked them for an election of leader after the election results are declared. It is learnt that Congress high command has given nod for his suggestion as his demand is in accordance with the norms of the party.
Congress high command which is also optimistic to form the government in the state does not want to give any wrong signal by imposing a leadership in the state on formation of the government.
It is known that senior leader ND Tiwari has once again shown keen interest for the CM post. Apart from Tiwari, Satpal Maharaj and senior leader Harak Singh Rawat are also lobbying in Delhi for the post.
