Marking the birth anniversary of the Hindu deity Hanuman, one of the ancient most temples in Varanasi, the Sankat Mochan temple, plays host to festivities that go on all night long until the break of the day. Maestros of Indian classical music, come from all parts of the country to perform of their own accord, on themes based on Hanuman Charitra, Krishnalila, the legend of Ram, Saraswati etc. And while you’re immersed in the entrancing recitals, don’t be surprised if some more of the temple’s inhabitants come over to say hello to you, the monkeys of course!
