Great indian caricature

 

 

I read your editorial (TSI, March 2-8). It was really an eye-opener. It practically brought us down back to the earth as we all were on cloud nine after learning that "Slumdog" has got three Oscars for India. "Slumdog" is more a medium than a film which proves India inferior to the Americans. The new image of India is now a land of slums, corruption, failures and gangsters. The film didn't even miss a chance to bring forward or reveal all the negative things about India. There is a dialogue in the film in which young actor Tanay Chheda who plays young teenaged slumdog, gets beaten up by the cops because of cheating the American tourists and he remarks -"this is India where they beat up young boys as animals". And then the tourists gives him a hundred dollar bill and says -"this is American kindness". Does not this statement in the film proves India's humiliation?
