Going the SMS way

 

 

This is with reference to Editor-in-Chief’s editorial column “To make India Democratic and Politics De-Criminalised, allow election voting through SMS” (TSI November 5, 2007). Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri rightly says that votes should be cast by the means of SMS. This also reminds me of a latest TV commercial of ‘Idea’, a mobile phone company, in which it shows how in a village, mobile numbers have replaced the names of the people. I believe that very soon we will be recognised by our mobile numbers rather than our names. Our identity cards, credit cards, even voters’ and pan cards would be replaced by our mobile phones.
