In a story akin to Bollywood potboiler 'Bunty aur Babli', two families have sold a public road to a man in collusion with Surat municipal corporation officials.

The Salabatpura police have registered a complaint against the accused families, along with two municipals officials for their help in the illegal act.

“In Nani Begumwadi area, two families prepared bogus maps and documents showing that a road around their house is their property and two civic body officials helped them to carry out this fraud,” says a police official.

The accused municipal officials-a Municipal maintenance surveyor and city survey superintendent-helped the two other accused to prepare fudged maps and documents.

The incident dates back to 2006 when the accused M.B.Bardoliwala and R.M.Tagariwala sold their property, along with the road, to one M Hanif of Nani Begumwadi in the Surat city. The two also registered their property and road with the registrar.

After Hanif came to know about the fraud with him, he immediately informed the police about on Thursday.
