Padma dilemma
Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri, kudos for highlighting the dilemma of the Central government for its Padma Award on notorious Chatwal (TSI, Feb 1-7). To be or not to be! The question that oscillates on the minds of Hamlet! Likewise, whether to withdraw or defend its decision of Padma on Chatwal, who was awarded on a platter the richest honour of India! Mr Chaudhuri's write-up clears doubts of Indians on how Chatwal was wanted by CBI for alleged cases of fraud and was also opposed by the Indian mission in Washington against his selection! In fact, he was also under scanner of the United States for financial fraud! The Central government should make sure that such people are not even nominated for such prestigious Padma Awards.

81445783** Ailing system In line with your thoughts in article on our education system, (TSI, Jan 17-24) it was definitely an eye-opener about how do the education system works. In fact, what makes our education inferior from others is fear, whether it is from Dean, professors, administration, peers, or anyone who hampers system. We are afraid of the power they possess. We usually forget that they are made to make us satisfy from all queries, which our people mistake it by blaming on each other. This is the point where all trouble starts and people should work to make the education system better.

Spoilt games
I had read your editorial column about the administration of sports bodies (TSI, Jan 25-31). You have suggested to run them as corporate companies under the government. But will it really work? Aren't we witnessing third rated politicians spoiling every government organisation? I believe bringing them under the government would make these issues more complicated and the chairman posts will be given to 'used and thrown' party seniors just like governor posts.
