Farce democracy

Farce democracy Referring to the edit “Our MPs always have a consensus...!” (TSI, Aug 30-Sept 5). When a bill is introduced by a ruling party in the Parliament to benefit the poor, no Opposition leader supports it. But if such a bill benefits the personal and individual lives of our so called representatives, all the leaders become friends and demand for more. This is a joke! The current three-fold hike in the MPs salary has made it clear that the ministers have no limits and bounds in amassing their personal wealth. Of course, the pay hike and the salary they get today is nominal and insignificant when compared to the money they already amassed by siphoning off the public funds. Every voter should notice that every misused vote in this democratic system drives a politician to an everlasting royalty and luxury. On the flip side, a commoner finds it almost impossible to eke out his four member family thanks to the frequent price hikes of essential commodities. But our parliamentarians, elected to emancipate the poor from battering difficulties, enjoy world class facilities and decent food for free of cost and cry for more to be done. I wonder if this might me the legitimate definition for democracy!
