We Indians have always been emotional and more often than not, it has hurt our business, and political interests. This is with reference to your cover story "Let’s be honest about Jyoti Basu" (TSI, Jan 25-31). Sutanu Guru’s article is quite insightful and he has rightly backed his views by bare facts. In fact, we must not forget Basu’s misdeeds that put the West Bengal in backseat while the nation was progressing. In another excellent article, "The gift of being mortal" (TSI, Jan 25-31), Akram Hoque points out that death of leaders does help political parties. Be it the assassination of Indira Gandhi, or the death of YSR Reddy. Sadly, this has always jeopardised the nation’s interest.
