Congressmen pledge to make party strong

Claiming that Congress and Bihar were 'inseparable', Congressmen on Thursday pledged to make the outfit more strong and vibrant to regain its past glory.

"We have to make Congress strong and vibrant from the grassroot level to state-level," Congress in-charge of Bihar Affairs Gulchain Singh Charak said at a party rally here. Congress MP Raj Babbar exhorted workers to work unitedly for rebuilding the party in the state.   "We admit the fact that there were mistakes committed at the time of distribution of tickets in 2010 Assembly polls.

But we should join hands in the struggle for refurbishing and strengthening the party," he said.   Claiming that the party had never compromised on corruption and sent several leaders behind the bars, Raj Babbar said Sonia Gandhi-led Congress was prepared to fight the malaise 'in totality'.

It was Congress which brought the Right to Information Act, he said. Lashing out at the campaign launched by ruling JD(U) seeking special status for Bihar, Raj Babbar wondered why the erstwhile NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee did not concede the demand. He also slammed Nitish Kumar government's oft-repeated claim of taking strict measures to check corruption.
