As I started to surf the web for today’s news in the morning, I was shocked. News that an unknown group from Delhi has threatened to inject syringes containing AIDS infection to Anna Hazare and his supporters, who have been agitating in the national capital for their demand of Jan Lokpal bill, is barely anything less than a shock.
Is Anna Hazare right or wrong is an entirely different issue. Let people decide that. At the first place, the way Anna has adopted is a democratic way to oppose or to demand. How one can threaten somebody for his democratic campaigning?
I am also against Anna’s way of demanding that Jan Lokpal Bill should be passed in the parliament. His tone might seem threatening, but it is democratic. The incident can also be seen as an attempt to weaken Anna’s resolve and commitment towards a cause, which he gathers through overwhelming public support.
On Sunday at Jantar Mantar, effect of this threat was seen clearly. Anna’s security was tightened. Police informed that on Saturday night it got some threatening pamphlets containing hate material against crusaders of Jan Lokpal. As per the police claim, some unknown group has prepared injections with deadly AIDS infection and will inject them to Anna supporters. It is really condemnable.
