A case has been registered against a printing press here for not inscribing the birth date of groom and bride on wedding cards, police said on Monday.
The district administration had issued a circular last month directing all press owners in the district to print cards only after taking age proof of bride and groom, with a view to curb child marriages, they said.
"The case was lodged by District Magistrate Kamruddin under section 188 of IPC on Sunday against the printing press owner for not printing date of birth of a groom on wedding cards which were published in the press," they said, adding, the groom was a minor.
The child marriage, which was scheduled to be solemnised on April 13, was stopped by the district administration and subsequently a case was lodged in the matter," they said.
