Call for stability

 

 

In the cover story, "Autumn of the Satraps" (TSI, Jan 18-24) has raised a pertinent question about the future of regional leaders. With India taking its place on the global economic platform, leaders with narrow vision, sectarian mindsets and a feudal style of functioning will not survive. The voters want bijli, sadak and pani and have made up their minds to elect a strong all India party to govern the country. This is why, the Congress was re-elected in 2009. But the Satraps will not go away and will continue to provide nuisance at the state level. If India needs to make rapid economic growth, then it needs to have a two party system. The BJP and the Congress need to edge out their regional allies for a stronger and politically stable India.
