At the University of Florida, they have discovered the quickest and most convenient way to sterilise the dirty kitchen sponge. Two minutes inside a fully-heated microwave inactivates almost 99% of the microscopic creepie-crawlies. Isn’t that utilising the ubiquitous microwave oven better?
